More socks on the way

I joined the StickaMeras Sockklubb. I'm really looking forward to this. One pair of socks a month is the goal.

I had a lovely Christmas and (and bitrthday as well) I got some really nice gifts; apart from a contribution to the dental bill I got digital scales, some vintage knitting patterns, a webpage of my own (not an easy choice to decide on a webadress name) that I'm working on and I will tell you more about later.
I also got the KnitPicks Interchangeble circular needles set with 8 needles from 3,5 mm to 8 mm, and 4 cables 60 cm, 80 cm, 120 cm and 152 cm and a case with plastic pockets.
What more do you need? I am thrilled and I can't wait to get started.

Christmas gifts all done

Finnaly I can focus on my own knitting projects once all Christmas gifts are done.

Here are my latest projects:
Stella's Hat

Pattern: Stella's Hat from Melissa Lynn at Knitting School Dropout

Yarn: Merino from Garnstudio

Needles: 4,5 mm circs + dpns

I frogged the gigantic beret to knit this instead and so far I really think that was a good decision. This is also a moss stich hat. I will get a moss sitch hat in the end...

Birch (Björk eller "skiraste sjalen")

Pattern: Birch from Rowan # 34 (på svenska finns mönstert hos ica-kuriren då kallad Skiraste sjalen)
Yarn: Kauni Lace (1-ply 90% wool, 10 % acryl)
Needles: 4,5 mm

My first attempt on a lace yarn shawl with a lace patern. So far so good. The pattern is easy to remember and the yarn nice to knit.

More mitts

Here is one pair that is going to be a Christmas gift.

And here's another pair.

I used Karisma from Garnstudio and there wasn't enough yarn to knit the cuffs in the same colour. So instead of running down to the yarn shop I decided that the different-coloured cuffs could be a clever way to practice left from right.

And finally here are the Squirrily Swedish Mittens. They need a good blocking and then they are ready for wrapping.

Smitten by a mitten

Pattern: Manly Mitts by Elizabeth Morrisson from Knitty.com
Yarn: Hjertegarn's Lima 100 % wool
Needles: 3,5 mm dpns

I really love these mittens. They were a quick knit (that's always a plus!), the pattern was easy to follow and memorize. And they fit me like a glove. I knitted the smaller version and with this yarn and these needles they turned out quite small.

New things, new Merino yarn from Drops

Things haven't been great.
I've visited the dentist again.
I've been ill after a vaccination.
The oldest son probably has scarlet fever and when I've had a few minutes over I've spent them on Chistmasgifts.
But I have a few thing to show you:

Youngest son's new hat. He went with me to the yarnshop and picked the colours himself.

Pattern: k3 p2 rib all the way up. Quick decrease.
Yarn: Lima from Hjertegarn 100% wool
Needles: 3,5 mm

Next up the gigantic beret:

Pattern: my own improvisation with a terrible result. Much too big. Will be frogged.
Yarn: Drop's new Merino (at the moment it's only in black or white but with more colours to come).
Needles: 3,5 mm

I really liked this yarn. I started at least five different projects and frogged them until I knitted this hidious thing. It will be frogged as well. I thing I will knit a Kaari instead. Or another Leaf T-shirt.

And finally Buttony:

Pattern: Buttony by Oh my Stars
Yarn: Kampes 2-ply wool yarn
Needles: 4,5 mm

I think I was a bit too optimistic when I decided that the circumference for the arms was enough and put them on scrap yarn. If it doesn't fit me I hope there is someone else interested in this raglan sweater...

Christmas gift

Pattern: Key Cozy from Wind loop
Yarn: sock yarn left overs held double
Needles: 3,5 mm dpns
This might be a good christmas gift. It only took a few hours do knit.

torsdag 15 november 2007

tam on a plate

Pattern: Tweedy Tam by Dropped a Stitch
Yarn: Felted Tweed from Rowan
Neddles: 3,5 mm circs and dpns

This was supposed to look like a beret, and it sort of does when put on a plate, but on my head it looks more like a regular hat. I did it in the adult size, but I haven't blocked it yet. Maybe that will transform it.
Anyway, I quite like it like this. I think I will knit one more in a brighter colour and add even more stitches and see what happens.

Bag

I made myself a knitting bag. The fabric is from IKEA. It turned out better than I had expected.

Shedir in daylight

The kids, their dad and granddad went down to Malmö to visit their great grandfather. Here they are in the park outside where he lives.

Photos of the Kauni top down raglan

Pattern: My own improvised version of a top-down raglan.
Yarn: Effektgarn from Kauni and a brown 2-ply wool yarn that was left over from another sweater.
Needles: 4,5 mm circs and 3,5 mm dpns

New Clapotis

I've started on a new Clapotis. I'm useing Kauni Effektgarn this time as well, but in the colours light gray, dark gray and bright orange. I think I will add a few more of the straight rows to make it a bit longer this time.

What can I say it's cold outside

This is a small Shedir cap that I made with only seven repeats (cast on 112 sts), six rib rows and I skiped a few of the rows in the end (row 70, 73, and 76).
I've also been working on my Kauni raglan sweater, but I don't have any new photos to show.

even more hats

Pattern: Odessa from Magknits by Grumperina
Yarn: Baby Chashmerino from Debbie Bliss
Needles: 3,5 mm 40 cm circ. and 3,5 dpns
This was a really fun knit. Lovely easy to remember pattern and the yarn was soft and nice to knit with. I made it too small though. I followed the pattern and started the decrease after 14 cm and that was too soon. Next time I'll knit at least 18 cm.
This was my very first bead project. I will definitely knit more Odessas.

torsdag 11 oktober 2007

new red socks and six squirrels

Pattern: my own. A k3, p1 rib down the leg, the cuff is a k1, p1 rib.
Yarn: a brightly kool aid dyed red. Originaly white Fabel from Garnstudio.
Needles: 2,5 mm dpns.
Only a thumb to knit and then the first mitten is done.

Squirrely Swedish Mittens

Pattern: Squirrely Swedish Mittens from Elli Stubenrauch at Elliphantom Knits.
Yarn: Garnstudio's Fabel
Needles: 2,5 mm dpn's
This is the hardest thing for me when it comes to knitting. I can't seem to get the right tension on the yarn. I hope it look better after blocking.

Yarn: Garnstudio's Fabel
Needle: 2,5 mm dpns

I bought the yarn at 2knit in Olskroken when they had 20% off! I also bought some plain white sock yarn to dye, and some lovley Rowan yarn and more of the 2 ply Kauni that I uset to knit the Clapotis, but this time in blue-green-lilac colours.

torsdag 27 september 2007

oldest boy's birthday coming up

Pattern: Wavy from Knitty.com
Yarn: Toppull from SandenesGarn
Needles: 3,5 mm

Notes: Cast on 30 stitches insted of 42 to make it a bit more narrow.

Clapotis

And I've got half of the skein left! I can do one more if I want to.

måndag 24 september 2007

Woohoo!

I got my Sockapalooza socks today. Thank you Elise!
The pattern is Dublin bay socks, and the yarn is a hand dyed yarn from Glass Hedge Studios.
Tack!

And now:....let me present to you....Clapotis!

I'm almost half way there. The pattern is Clapotis from Knitty.com and the yarn is Kauni's Effektgarn. I'm using 4,5 mm circular needles. The first photo is the most accurate in colour. The close-ups are a bit pale.
