Sea foam scarf

So this is how it looks when it's finished. I like it, but this is a gift to someone, but I've started on a new one.

I did it on time. They were finished at 10 o'clock last night.

Cavern and a Birthday gift

This is my first try on a raglan cardigan. It's the Cavern Cardigan by Laura from Copmicpluto Knits!. I like the idea a lot. It's so easy to knit. But the yarn is a wool mix from Tradera and alot rougher than I had hoped for. Not soft at all. But It's good for practice.


It's my son's fourth birthday tomorrow. I have come this far with a pair of socks. So I shouldn't be sitting here infront of the mac. Back to work!

Sea foam - scarf project

I tried this pattern called Sea Foam from the Bonniers stora bok om stickning (Vouge knitting). I made some changes. The yarn I used is Muskat from Garnstudio, it's cotton, but I think I will try this pattern in some other yarn too.

I like the way the yarn changes along the way, sometimes stripy and somtimes more even.

Not really a pattern...

Short description of the pattern I used for the shawl.

I started with three stitches. Garter stitch. Needles 10 mm. Then increased one stitch before the last stitch on every second row (so that the increases is on the same side). When I reached what I thought was half the size I wanted I started with the decreases. K2tog befor the last stitch on every second row (so that the decreases is on the same side as the increases). Bind off when there is only three stitches left.
And I changed yarn every 4-5 row or so. Knit the new yarn together with the old for one row and there is no need for lots of work weaving in ends.

Green Shawl done

I'm very pleased with it. I don't think you can see them on the photos but I attached the three beads on each corner of the shawl. It looks great and adds some weight to it.
I also got one of my sons to try it on!

New green shawl

As you can see, I just had to start on my new shawl.
One photo taken with flash, shows the greens a bit brighter than they are, and at the photo at the top the greens are more pale than in reality. So, think something in-between.

knitting in the forest of Värmland

And while in the deep forest I had time to knit my latest kool aid yarn. The result is this pair of socks that I call Apelsin.

third Hemlis gift

Wow!

I got my third Hemlis package this week. We've been away in Värmland for almost a week and when I got home there was a note about a package for me.

This is what I got!!

My favourite green! Three different skeins of yarn AND some chocolate AND some beautiful beads. I can't wait to get started  on a green shawl.

Monkey

My kool aid dyed monkey socks are done. Very nice pattern. But next time I will not use such messy yarn. This yarn worked out best in plain stockinette. The soles, heels and toes of the sock shows they yarn in the best way I think.

Tenerife

I've been away for almost a week. A colleague and I went to Tenerife to visit a rehabilitation center called Vintersol. They treat kids with Juvenil Idiopatic Arthritis, and some of the kids are treated by us as well. We met the occupaional therapists there to develope a collaboration. 

We stayed in a part of the island called Los Cristianos. This was the view from the hotel balcony.

In the background you can see the landscape. There are hundreds of volcanoes on the Island.

And here I am infront of the biggest vulcano on Tenerife, Teide.
